I actually quite like the mood you’ve got here. I think it lines up with the theme/plot of your story. I also think the way you didn’t adhere to the tradition ‘boxes’ of a comic is really nice. I like the space created by the portals growing smaller. The hand written text does have a nice touch but if it was a touch thicker and brighter it might be easier to read 🙂
I am now not sure the place you’re getting your information, but great topic.
I needs to spend a while studying much more or understanding more.
